The Making of All Risk Innovations
On the Lassen National Forest in Northern California. One of my earlier assignments as a Division Supervisor. Tough One!
These hose rollers are designed based on my 46 years of experience in wildland firefighting. Making hose rolls on the app deck or in the grass, or building a specialized roller at the station has been the way we all did it. The real problem was when we were “out of district” I was getting tired of trying to find a smooth clean area to make the ganzer/gnass/cleveland style packs that we used, so we wouldn’t wear the edge of the hose. I saw most of the strike teams around us were having the same problems. There had to be a better way to make progressive hose packs while keeping the firefighters off their knees and out of the dirt. While out on assignment there is no good way to make packs that isn’t labor intensive, hard on the hose or hard on the knees.
Until now! The Crossfire hose winder for wildland hose twas designed to be compact in storage, fast, and durable. It is hitch mounted and folds up to about the size of a cot so it will store well on your engine.
An adaptation of this roller is the Crossfire winder for structure hose. Making cleveland/garden style packs for apartment and stairwell attack with 1-3/4” hose has never been easier or faster.
Both of these quality products that will make your job easier and safer, saving time and money, money spent on broken hose and injury claims for firefighters.
